It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ramona O Reyes, who left us on June 6, 2025. She was 95 years old.
Ramona was born in 1929 in the city of Pecos to Antonio and Ysabel Ojinaga. Unfortunately, her mother passed away 3 years after Ramona was born. Ramona was then raised by her paternal grandparents Cresencia and Vidal Rivera.
At the age of 18 She married Ralph Reyes and together they raised 6 children. Ramona worked as a waitress, cook, caregiver and for a time she and Ralph owned Ralphs Drug. Ramonas hobbies were cooking, baking, sewing and crocheting. She loved plants and her cat Tita. Ramona enjoyed reading her bible and listening to the music of Freddy Fender. However, her favorite song was called Ramona sung by the late Jim Reeves. She was a devoted wife, mother and Jehovah’s witness.
Ramona is preceded in death by her grandparents Cresencia and Vidal Rivera, grandparents Damacio and Eufemia Garcia. Her parents Antonio and Ysabel Ojinaga. Her husband Ralph of 62 years her son Ruben Reyes. Her sisters Reyna Rayos, Margie Contreras brother Ramon Martinez.
She is survived by her children Tony and (Gloria) Reyes, Rafael Reyes, Theresa and (Antonio) Nieto, Raul Reyes, Liz and (Oscar) Rodriguez. Sister Lydia and (Miguel) Natividad 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The Pallbearers will be Jesse, Tony, Michael and Jacob Reyes, Anthony and Kyrstin Nieto, Ryan Rodriguez, Tyler and Rebecca Gonzalez.
We would like to express our gratitude for such sweet friendships and love extended to our beloved mother from Ana and Hilda Gomez, Daniela Torres, Janie Guerrero of San Diego California, Agueda Lujan, Landa Rediger, Socorro Ontiveros, Herbert Saenz, Sylvia Ornelas, Estella Nichols, Mercy Reyes, Michael and Belinda Martinez of Tulare California, just to name a few.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the health care workers that provided such loving care throughout the years Dr, Raja Naidu of Odessa Medical Group, Michelle Cser formerly of the Pecos Rural Health Clinic, Dr. Steven Serrano, Dr.Gabriel, Nurses Myra Taylor. Rosalie Orona, Darla Blackstock, Robyn M. Devivo health care worker Margarita Garcia, Physical Therapist Ned of Reeves Regional Health formerly known as American Home Health.
More recently Argelia Prieto and Elva Rodriguez, Michelle Huckabee of Pecos County Memorial Hospice in Ft. Stockton Texas. Michael Buentello of the Pecos Funeral Home for his assistance and patience.
Visitation will be on Wednesday June 11 th from 11:30 am - 9:00 pm at Peaceful Gardens Funeral home with the funeral services on Thursday at 10:00 am at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenwood cemetery.
