Raul Ornelas, 56, of Odessa, passed away on September 9, 2026, in Odessa, TX.
Raul was born on August 13, 1970, in Pecos, TX, to Alejandra Ornelas.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Alejandra Ornelas, his brother Lupe Ornelas, and sisters Maria Duran and Adela Jimenez.
Raul is survived by his partner, Thad Dauteuil of Odessa, TX, and his loving siblings: sisters Irma Ornelas, Peggy Ornelas, Betty Pina and husband Jesus all of Odessa, Aurora Duran and husband Salvador of Iraan, Martina Allen of San Angelo, and Santos Acosta of Sulphur Springs; along with brothers Joe Ornelas of Balmorhea and Michael Ornelas and Juan Ornelas of Odessa. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as his cherished puppies, President and Bingo.
Pallbearers will be Salvador Duran, Joshua Ramirez, Brandon Johnson, Michael Ornelas, Jonathon Ramirez, Joziah Zarate, Aaron Shanahan, and Jesus Pina.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Peaceful Gardens Funeral Home in Pecos, TX. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Balmorhea, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Balmorhea, with burial following at Balmorhea Cemetery. Arrangements are by Peaceful Gardens Funeral Home.
Raul enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, particularly spending time at the game room, where he could relax and have fun. He shared a special bond with his puppies, President and Bingo, who brought joy and companionship into his life.
Raul will be fondly remembered for the love he gave and the lives he touched. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Medical Center Hospital ICU and CCU, and Peaceful Gardens Funeral Home.
