It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roman Hernandez Rodriguez, who left this world on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Pecos, Texas. Born on June 4, 1942, in Grandfalls, Texas, to Eliberta Hernandez Rodriguez and Blas Rodriguez, Roman lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
Roman was a steadfast construction worker. A man of simple joys, he cherished moments spent with friends, relished cheering on his favorite teams, including the Houston Astros and the Dallas Cowboys, and found happiness in the warmth of family gatherings. In October of 1963, he married the love of his life, Lucy Rodriguez, and together they created a home filled with love and laughter.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucy; his parents; his brother, Ramon Rodriguez; and his grandson, Joshua Rodriguez. Roman's spirit lives on through his surviving children: Daniel Rodriguez and Mary of Monahans, Texas, Joe Ray Rodriguez and Sara of Lubbock, Texas, Robert Rodriguez, and daughter Rose Rico and her husband Mariano, both of Pecos, Texas. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, Roman is remembered by his siblings: Amelia Tarango, Justo Rodriguez, Maria Louisa Rodriguez, Alberto Rodriguez, and Elisa Franco, all of Morton, Texas; Lupe Rodriguez of Tyler, Texas; and Alejandra Castaneda of Lubbock, Texas.
Visitation for Roman Hernandez Rodriguez will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Peaceful. Garden Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:00 PM. A mass to celebrate his life will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Saint Catherine's Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Pecos, Texas.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to all the first responders who provided assistance to Roman.
